The Fifth

Vayus, Mudras and the Art of Sequencing. ✨

The Fifth is a brand-new training created to explore the subtle energies of the Vayus and Mudras. It intends to guide students in the art of confidently and seamlessly weaving these powerful elements into their teachings. A collaborative environment for new and experienced teachers who seek growth and compassionate support on their journey to expand and refine their offerings.

VAYUS

The yoga tradition describes five movements or functions of prana known as the vayus (‘winds’)— Prana vayu (not to be confused with the undivided master prana), Apana vayu, Samana vayu, Udana vayu, and Vyana vayu. The five Vayus govern different areas of the body and different physical and subtle activities. When they're functioning harmoniously, they assure the health and vitality of the body and mind, allowing us to enjoy our unique talents and live life with greater meaning and purpose.

MUDRAS

Mudra, Sanskrit translation to ‘seal, gesture or mark’, are symbolic gestures typically practised with the hands and fingers. Practising Mudras facilitates the flow of energy in the subtle body and enhances the journey within.

Essentially, mudras are a form of non-verbal communication – an ‘external expression of inner resolve.’ Ekhart Yoga.

ART OF SEQUENCING

Through an embodied approach we will explore our knowledge of Mudras and Vayus to create masterful and mindful flows. Workshops will dive into the art of language and provide a framework for refining your sequencing.

As a teacher, sequencing and language are powerful tools that if learnt to harness will provide an elevated level of offering.

Each day offers a unique blend of theory and practice, weaving together lectures, experiential learning and group discussions. From dynamic asana sessions to guided meditations, you'll integrate the teachings seamlessly into your body, mind, and spirit. Throughout the training you’ll practice sharing your newfound knowledge with others receiving valuable facilitator and student feedback, refining your skills, and leaving empowered to continue your yoga journey with authenticity and depth.

YOUR FACILITATORS:

Skaya and Tye first met at Talalla Retreat in 2017, where Tye co-manages Talalla Yoga, Sri Lanka. Their instant connection led to a deep friendship, with Skaya returning to Sri Lanka to collaborate on yoga retreats and 3 successful 200-hour Yoga Teacher Trainings (YTT’s). Combining 30+ years of teaching experience, their synergistic styles and heartfelt facilitation blend seamlessly, resulting in truly authentic and soul-nourishing experiences for their students.

TYE FIELDING:

Tye is a curious student of life. Always eager to learn and understand beyond the curtain of physical experience. Through this curiosity and devotion to yoga, Tye has had the great fortune to learn from many incredible teachers and gurus allowing her to hone her craft and deepen her respect, interest, and experience of yoga and energetic healing. Tye is a certified E-RYT 500hr Yoga Teacher and Trainer with a deep love for traditional and modern experimental forms of yoga. Captivated by Eastern philosophy and the intelligence of energetics, Tye is a skilled practitioner with qualifications as a Certified Reiki Master; Energetic Healer / Educator, and Massage Therapist. Tye’s asana yoga classes incorporate a free-flowing vinyasa inspired by the pulsation of breath and embodied mudras. Tye is a warm and generous practitioner who loves to share her extensive knowledge of yoga, yin, meditation, pranayama, and self-healing modalities with others

SKAYA HEDSTROM:

After a decade of sports science and personal training, Skaya discovered a growing need to balance strong physical pursuits with softer stretch and mobility sessions. In 2013, she undertook her first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) at Byron Yoga Centre. During this immersion her love for the spiritual and mindful practice expanded. Upon returning to Perth, Skaya transformed her personal training studio into a yoga focused space. What a turnaround! In 2017, she honoured a calling to India where she began further Yoga and Ayurvedic studies over a 5-year period. Whilst living in India - which immediately felt like home - Skaya facilitated on over 10 200hr & 300hr YTT’s and completed studies as an Ayurvedic Practitioner. A humbling and magical experiencenot without its challenges. It was a time of immense growth and transformation stepping into the role of educator and living a life in harmony with nature's rhythms. Nature is Skaya’s philosophy. Skaya’s offerings have naturally unfolded over the years merging the love of Yoga, Ayurveda, the human form and dance with a compassionate approach.
